Hi All,
if you are sick of playing in front of the computer look at joining a weekend warrior program. It is fantastic! Here in Brisbane you enroll and go to a jam, play a couple of songs with others and then get selected into a band.
You have 4 weeks of rehearsal with a qualified music coach and then play at a concert in front of a crowd of hundreds. Its the best thing I have done and I made good contacts and now play in a band.
The program started off for the over 40's but all ages are in the bands now and it is great fun. It costs $250.00 but it is worth more than money can buy. If you need more info PM me here. There are WW programs in nearly every state.

Hey Ozebob, Is this weekend warriors program the same one that is put on by billy hyde music in certain cities or is it run by another group?

There's some info at this link: www.weekendwarriors.org.au/Pick a store in your area and give 'em a ring. The program may need a revival in some areas. I think venues are getting hard to find. I'm still waiting in my area. Cheers!

chased up the Melbourne programme (thanks for the link mainstreet!! ) - got a message from Michelle Brown (billy hyde store) - the next one is in Blackburn starting some time in August. I am pretty keen and will probably get into this - any other takers in the Melbourne area? From past posts it seems most of you bods are NSW or QLD - surely there are some Victorians in here? I will be travelling just under 300 km round trip to do this, so if you live closer give it some thought - get off your tails and lets have some fun!!! ;D

Hi Guys,
Sorry, I forgot I'd put this up. The Weekend Warrior program is going gangbusters in Brisbane and its run by Ellaways Music and coordinated by myself and a colleague.
We have opened a new store at Underwood and I've been caught up in that project since July 2006. We have a new program commencing with a jam on the 3rd of February at Brothers at Albion.
If anyone is interested, email me at bob@aka.com.au and I'll give you all the info. We also run regular jams and theme concerts and both are great fun. The next Jam is on at our new store at Compton Rd., Underwood on the 7th of February.
We have an Oze Rock Theme Concert in March for established bands or individuals wanting to join a band to play. The Weekend Warrior rounds and the Theme concerts have a fee attached to cover our costs but the jams are free and we supply the backline, guitars and a PA system.
Email me if you are in Brisbane and interested in joining a network of musos.
Cheers, Ozebob
