Hello everyone. I'm a beginner and have just started learning. I've had one lesson. I've been instructed to do bsic exercises like making use of different finger combos up and down the neck. Also to practice the e chord.
I've been told to practice twice a day for an hour each session. I am having trouble strumming atm. I find it awkward to rest the last three fingers on the bridge/pick guad as I strum as it feels like its straining my hands.
I am also having trouble with hold chords. My teacher says that I release too soon or something. Any tips welcome.
Also any other good music forums to check out. thanks

The best thing you can do with any Guitar chords chart is to learn its contents and then throw it away. You need to get to the point where you can instantly recall guitar chords on an automatic basis. The basic tips for the beginners:You aim is to learn the whole contents of the chart in a month and then wean yourself off it. Learn the chords that are in a key and just play them over and over again in any order. An an example play the chords of E, A, B7 and D as a set and play them over and over.

To help with the strumming, you could try changing your pick attack. you're probaly using a lot of movement in your wrist, and fingers. a combination of practive and your teacher will help you to improve that side.
