Hey everyone, I am a 13 year old lil rocker dude and i live in a shithole called yeppoon which is really close to rocky. We only have one major music store called green brothers but its not just guitar its all kind of instruments but the guitar stock is pretty good, no fender products but they have gibson and ashton and Marshall.
We did have a guitar pro shop with a recording studio out the back but it closed down proabably because all the learners went to greens brothers and they didnt have much business but i dont know.
I have a shitty little "SABER??" 15W and i am saving for a new amp, but there is one that i have in mind. It this marshall which is a 50W i think it is called a MD50DFX combo or sumthin.
Lets face it, its $800 and i am only thirteen and dont have a job but i have already got 290 bucks and my parents will chip in a bit plus birthday money plus pocket money of $10 a week i should have it before chrissy next year.
I am just wondering if anyone has any comments about this amp or recomend a good marshall. Dont want no ashtons or anything though.
Any comments would be alright

Dont do it dude! $800 is wayyy to much for those amps....they sound like shit too If you really want a marshall get a valvestate....although they arent in the same catagory as the marshall valve amps (eg jcm's/jmp's/ etc) there are heaps around second hand for very little money (probably $400 for 100 watts) and they sound pretty decent and you wont be waiting till christmas 2076 to get it either. Dont make the mistakes i did.....buy a good used amp now and you'll never regret it.

So ashton is the way to go? I might be checking out this fair dinkum music shop in gladstone which has good qaulity shit. Oops, am i allowed to say shit? anyway they have professional guitar merchandise and i will either look their or sumthin in brisbane or get my guitar teacher to get sumthin for me in sydney, cuz he lives there when hes not studying in UNI at rocky. Anywayz thanks for the advice on the amps and saving my money.

agreed go and get a second hand valvestate. don't buy a ashton!! also don't be scared of getting a 50 watt insted of a 100 watt like hydra said. i thought it would be a small amp but it is about the same cabnet size. and my 40watt valvestate it loud enough for any gig you will play untill you turn pro

I agree with hydrafonics. do heaps more research first. and try real hard to get a tube amp, you won't regret it later. check out the sydney shop. www.venuemusic.com.aucheck out the marshall amps ..they have prices as well. try posting a ad in the shop up there you never know a local muso might have one they will sell cheap to get rid of it. Got mine that way and all it needed was the ground lead reattached and a new set of valves and I have a 60 watt tube which howls

Kinda depends on what style ariarocker plays eh? If you play nu metal then a Marshall valve amp aint neccessarily so. Depends on how much overdrive ya need, or if you use a pedal for it. My son plays new metal and he LOVES his AVT100 ($1000 from Parramatta Music) I generally DONT like nu-metal and have a Marshall JTM60 all valve combo which I really like but it doesnt have enough overdrive for him. The Marshall valve amps with a lot of drive are either very expensive for a 13yo or are basically transistor amps with a valve in the pre-amp, like the AVT and valvesound-nu-metal dream amps Power? 100 watts of tranny power wont sound that much louder than a 50 watt. Valves WILL sound louder generally for the same rating as they overload differently to trannys. In fact a Marshall 100 valve amp can pump out around 180 watts according to a spec sheet I have, it depends on how much distortion is allowed when they test the power output. PS Dont worry about names. If the Ashton pumps out a tone you like then get that. However the name could help the second hand resale value when you get your next amp... remember YOU are the only one that has the ears to tell if the amp can get the sound you like. Try out as many as you can first. Also it is cheaper usually to own a tranny amp as you dont have to change the valves (expensive) Yeah OK the AVTs have one pre-amp valve in em... bout $30 max.
