I am just beginning to learn guitar. My local music shop only had two guitar practice amps available in my price range - an Ashton GA-10 (10 amps for guitar) and a KA-15 (a 15 watter sold for keyboards). I wanted a 15 watt amp and the dealer assured me that there is no noticeable difference in guitar and keyboard amps at that level and so I came home with the KA-15. I just wanted to check with you guys that I haven't been conned.

Hi Dalron - I don't profess to be any sort of expert in white man's magic involving electrickery - I am still amazed that they can find people small enough to act inside my television, and how do they get inside yours at the same time? ?? Anyway, stupidity aside - my opinion for what it's worth. I would tend to agree with your shop guy in relation to the lower powered stuff - in our band we have a keyboard, and her amp we sometimes use for guitar, vocals or whatever, with no hassles. I have an Ashton GB10 (or 20...I am at work so can't remember) and I run guitar, bass or vocals through that as my heart desires on any day, with no discernible issues. (Quite happy with the Ashton brand btw, I am as rough as guts on my gear and it puts up with it all) Perhaps when getting up into the bigger stuff (I have a Laney 120 W setup) it makes a difference - I have given my bass a run through the Laney once, and pulled up pretty quickly as the sound was #^#%$% and I felt I ran a risk of blowing something up!!!! Thanks for putting up with my Sunday morning ramblings, God bless early starts at work on Sundays :-p , now where have I put that cofee..........................
