holy crap, it was gooood. the support band (things of stone and wood) werent exactly the greatest, tho they did have some decent songs. i think there were some mixing problems tho, because i couldnt hear the guitar very well if at all, and the keyboard was too loud. they did something which ive never even thought of doing tho, they put a mandolin and then a harmonica through a wah pedal. very cool
then john butler took the stage, and every went off. i think the opening song was Attitude, which was excellent.. actually i think they opened with something else but attitude was next..ahh who cares? anyways, it was an absolutely amazing show. hes a bloody good guitarist. Betterman was the final song, and it became about 15 minutes long, i think, which is an extra ten minutes on the studio track. john did a solo, then the drummer did, then the bassist did, and the john did another solo. it went on forever but it was awesome. after they left the stage the whole crowd of about 1000 people (probably more) started chanting WE WANT MORE for a few minutes, until they returned and finished of the show as they traditionally do with Take, which was another epic.
all in all, a damn good night. only problem was some guy who got dragged out by security, then made his way back in to be dragged out again.

Glad you finally got to see them Pete...nothing quite like a live show to bring the best out.......The band Things of Stone and Wood are a Melbourne Band.....had a couple of hits , most notibly(?) Happy Birthday Helen...I like Wildflowers as my fav song of theirs.
JBT are getting alot of air play on commercial stations lately, I dont know the name of the song, because the radio dj's never tell you who sang the last/next song anymore.....just "5 in a row, ad free". He's pretty cool Pete...

I finally got to see them play also at a recent blues and roots festival that was here in Perth. They played for an hour, was a pretty good set. Following them was Michael Franti and Spearhead, they are a great live act, they brought out John Butler to play an acoustic song with them, then they also had Taj Mahal come out and play with them aswell as Xavier Rudd. Gotta say though the highlight of it all was Xavier Rudd, if you havent seen him play live your really missing out. Hes a great act and just how he can play slide guitar, didgeridoo and the stomp box spins me out. He rates up there with when i saw Ben Harper play live, 2 of the best shows i have seen to date. Smuggled in a digi cam and got a few cool shots of them all too

Ah.. I saw the name Xavier Rudd, and im all ;D
he rocks, man. We had to study him in music.. and bloody hell.. I wouldn't know what to do with 3 didgeridoos, a stomp box, harmonica, steel lap, 12 stringer, let alone play them at the same time.. im not so sure he can play that many at the same time though..
but he can hum and play the didgeridoo, and play the steel lap and stomp at the same time.. its all WHAT THE?!?!?!?!?!
