I'm seriously starting to suffer from guitar withdrawal after breaking my wrist a month ago. I had to get a plate, a bone graft, and several pins and screws "installed" in my left wrist, and since have not been able to pick up a guitar. I tried having a crack this morning, but fretting a single string was too painful and difficult, let alone a barre chord... un-good!
Looks like it'll be another month or so till i can start getting back into it again, by which time i'm guessing my awesome *cough*skills will have gone down the proverbial. In the meantime I guess I can shine-ify my axes (luckily seems my fantastical english skills have not suffered... huzzah!).
So my question is has anyone else suffered a similar injury, or even a long stint without playing, and did you manage to get back into it easily?
How did you keep yourself sane in the meantime?
How much are the Cowboys gonna flog the Tigers by in the NRL final?

yes, yes, but who cares coz the Knights ... didn't quite make it this year...
but anyway: i haven't had an injury like that but i went on holidays for a month, came home for a month, then had a month in Gunnedah (hi Petox!) followed by a week in the Blue Mountains and while i was away on both occasions i was unable to take my guitar! it was quite tragic but i survived. i still haven't got my callouses quite up to the high standards i expect but that's probably more to do with uni than anything else.
so while it's not quite the same i hope you can get back into it and pick up where you left off.

I cut my left index finger and severed the tendon that moves the last joint in the index finger. I basically couldnt play for 4 months, then the repair failed so i had to re-learn a few things due to my finger not working how it used to. I played some slide for a while to keep me sane when i could'nt fret the guitar.
Now i still struggle with c/am/c7/am7/dm open chords but everything else is pretty much back to normal. My finger still doesnt work properly though.
